Tastevine finds Humor in College

, now was that fun or what? I believe it was the philosopher Belushi who said that. It didn’t really hit me until I moved out of my parents’ house, and into what most know as the real world to realize that life is a complicated mess of dates and deadlines. Immediately my parents said to me “when are you moving out?” and “you need to find a job soon.” Fortunately, I had previously enlisted an old friend to employ me in a venture he dubbed as an online wine revolution.

college-humor.pngBeing young is about taking chances and not falling in line with the rest of the crowd, define yourself. And this idea correlates within the emerging business world today. Take CollegeHumor.com, ironic, I think not. When I entered college in 2003 College Humor was a fledgling dotcom group that sought to exploit the complexities, for lack of a better word, of the collegiate experience. It has since become an example of what can be done when people step outside of the box and gain a perspective. College Humor still glorifies debaucherous nights with little coherence, and people take interest in the microcosm portrayed on this informal medium. And in doing so attracts students as well as forlorn alumni to come up with new ideas for getting smashed or remembering the old days when life wasn’t so complicated.

It seems that my step outside of the box has afforded me a few more years of social drinking, tomcatting, and general rambunctiousness, that one would expect to end after college. However, this time it’s going to be done with a sense of style and class. Through wine tastings and fun-loving interaction with everyone under the sun who loves wine, the real world doesn’t seem all that bad. In the words of a beloved songwriter, “The road goes on forever, but the party never ends.”
