Popularity Contest Plugin for WordPress
Tuesday, July 8th, 2008
Many of you may have noticed the widget in our sidebar that shows the most popular posts. It was originally built by Alex King and has been a great plugin for our site. Recently, we upgraded the Grape Thinking website, and one of the items we updated was this widget. For our non-tech-savvy readers, please feel free to play around with the links, and I apologize for any tech speak. If you are interested in using the widget for your own sit, The “cool” functionality we created was:
- It’s a widget… this means you can easily place it in the sidebar of a wordpress blog.
- It’s smarter ! Depending on what page you are looking at, it displays different posts that are relative to what you are reading. To see this in action, click a tag, category, archive, or an author in the sidebar, and check out the most popular posts within that section.

Happy Birthday America!
Wednesday, July 2nd, 2008
For all of our readers in the United States, Friday is the 4th of July Independence Day. For most, this means a day off of work
and an opportunity to relax, get some sun, picnic, bbq, grill up some Brats (NOTE: do NOT poke a hole in them while you’re grilling), and drinking beer, Red Zinfandel and Champagne while we get ready for the evenings fireworks. When the fireworks finally arrive, we’ll most likely be with family and friends contributing to the choir of fireworks with our ooh’s and ahhh’s.
If you are in the mood for traveling, or nearby, you should probably set your sites on one of these cities, as they we’re recently ranked The Top 10 Places to Celebrate July 4th:
1. Boston
2. Cape Cod, Nantucket, and Martha’s Vineyard
3. Chicago
4. Mount Rushmore
5. Philadelphia
6. Queen Mary 2
7. San Diego
8. San Juan Islands
9. US Virgin Islands
10. Washington, DC
Enjoy a safe 4th of July and Happy Birthday America!

Google Safe Browsing Diagnostic
Monday, May 26th, 2008
Google recently announced the release of a free safe browsing diagnostic tool. I have been frequently using this as a quick check tool on client’s websites in looking for possible penalties that could be hindering their search engine rankings.
Since it is a useful tool, I figured I would make it easy for you to test your site using Google’s safe browsing diagnostic tool by creating the simple form below. (more…)

Special Delivery
Wednesday, May 21st, 2008
I have plenty of experience ordering food from Hickory Farms, Omaha Steaks, and Honey Baked Ham (almost every Thanksgiving), but have you ever had seafood delivered to your door? I’ll admit, I’ve always been a little skeptical, but this past weekend definitely changed my mind a little bit.
My girlfriends parents ordered the Alaskan King crab from Alaska Harvest, and they were phenomenal. I didn’t know it at the time, but Red King Crab is supposed to be the top of the line, and after eating a few legs dipped in the golden drawn butter… mmm mm mmm … I can certainly understand where they get their reputation.
Just in case you were wondering, the meal was paired with Domaine Chatelain Chablis, which costs about $20 at your local wine store. The Chablis, which is a type of Chardonnay, was very light and crisp, which went well with the buttery crab leg goodness.
